Bridles and Reins

A big part of Al Ragusin's success is due the the use of his unique double reins system. Al designed this system to allow you to quickly and gently train your horse to ride in a controlled, collected manner.

The key to the system is the use of two sets of reins, which after proper adjustment are held and used as one. The first set are normal leather reins which are used to control the direction of the horse. The second set of reins is made of a bungee material, which keeps the horse's head in the correct position. When the horse's head is in the correct position, there is no tension in the reins. If the horse moves out of position, the bungee reins gently guide the head back. After 15 to 20 rides, the bungee reins are replaced with leather reins that run through rollers. The rollers make the control smoother for both horse and rider. The bungee reins can then be used to collect another horse. A brilliantly simple solution that took many years of experience to develop.
