Karaka Whips is small dedicated team of whip makers in New Zealand. The company is owned by Ashley and Carol Turner. The inspiration for producing their unique synthetic whips came from Ashley's experience in rope-rigging. He was continually asked by farmers to repair their leather whips. He imagined that there must be a better way to make whips using a more stable and durable material.

This approach of using synthetic materials led to Karaka's range of innovative quality whips that are demand worldwide. Their customers include farmers, rodeo and western cowboys, specialist sports shops, movie sets and performance artists such as clowns and circus performers.

Synthetic bull whip Bullwhip - Synthetic

Karaka Whips developed a synthetic whip that is great for all levels, from beginners to professionals. These whips are designed for all weather conditions and are maintenance free. The lead-loaded thong is completely synthetic which means that it cannot rot or be broken easily. The synthetic whip can be washed with water and will work directly after even when wet, muddy or in snowy conditions.

Bullwhips are an American design, and is the style most often seen in movies. The handle on a bullwhip is shorter than that on a stock whip, and the handle and thong (main body) is braided together.

A hard-working multi-purpose whip for any environment. These whips are ideal for target, ground work or on horseback due to their rigid handles. Comes in three colors black, Wasp (yellow and black) and red and black.

Stock whips are an Australian design that have a long stiff handle, which makes them easier to use on horseback.

The native New Zealand timber handles are designed to fit all hand sizes comfortably and easily. These will crack every time with very little practice due to the synthetic lead-loaded twelve-plait thong. Comes in three colors black, Wasp (yellow and black) and red and black.
