Our Best Duster!

This legendary oilskin drover coat may be the toughest 100% waterproof coat ever built. Similar in style to a Western duster coat, the 16 oz. oilskin fabric is finely woven, then double-oiled and waxed for additional rain, wind and snow protection. This coat features a removable shoulder cape, reinforced elbows, large cargo pockets, and hand warmer pockets. It also has a saddle gusset and leg straps. You'll find lots of fine detail like dual inside zippered pockets, a draw cord waist band, and the ability to accept a warm snap-in fleece liner (OWF 310), a dressy taffeta liner (OWT 150), or a snap-on hood (HOOD 100). Joseph Lyddy Dry-Proof (DRESS J120) can be used to restore water proof character that may have been reduced through age or heavy usage.

This jacket is awesome. Looks mean. I was very impressed with the construction and by the weir of this thing. It is a heavy sturdy jacket. Looking forward to shoveling snow here in the Windy City while remaining warm and dry. Thank you I will be a returning customer. More than happy and impressed. Plus the shipping was very fast I think it was 4 business days. Very impressed thank you

It made me a hero!

I ordered this for my son who is riding a bike to college every day. He LOVES it! My husband, who has owned a drover for decades, saw this one, he decided it is nicer than his. The liner we got for added warmth snaps in easily. A friend told me that a really well dressed young man caught her eye on campus the other day, and upon closer viewing she realized it was my son wearing this coat. Kudos on turning heads!

My favorite coat!

Posted by Calvin Logsdon on Sep 19th 2017

This coat is my absolute favorite coat. Solid feel. Weight is a little heavy but that will come in handy when the wind, snow and rain are going horizontal. I am 6' and 265 pounds with a 54" chest. This fits perfectly and feels great. Plenty of movement with it snapped all the way up, too.
The coat arrived a day earlier than originally estimated, so shipping rates 5 stars, as well.

Perfect fit but not according to the sizing chart.

Posted by T Eaton on Sep 17th 2016

I looked at all the other reviews on how this fits and took a chance at buying 2 sizes smaller than what I would have ordered from their size chart. I am 5'10", I weigh 195lbs, chest measurement of 46" which (according to the sizing chart) puts me into an XL. I ordered the medium and it fits perfectly. I believe they run their sizes large because they expect you to layer your clothing. I don't layer my clothing, the heaviest thing I will wear under this coat is a sweater at most. I ordered black but I'm thinking for that cowboy look I should have ordered brown. All in all, I love it...the wife, of course, does not...but I'm pretty sure that these dusters are a guy thing. :)

Perfect fit; room for a sweater under

Read the size charts and believe them (men's at least). I'm 6'1" 220# and usually buy XL for my outer-wear, but I read lots of reviews and decided to take a chance and trust the fitting chart. Perfect fit; room for a sweater under if I should need it.

AWESOME quality!

Unless your arms hang down to your knees you will need to order at least 1 size smaller and possibly 2 sizes smaller than you normally order. In my opinion the chest runs 1 size large but the sleeves run 2 sizes larger. Trying to exchange mine now because the quality is truly outstanding.

It beats the rain in Houston

Posted by steven on Oct 25th 2014

I purchased this duster to combat the horrendous weather conditions that we have in Houston, the humidity here is 100% and rains quite a lot and if I wear a rain suit It often in the winter months it is too thin and does not provide enough insulation and I have a Carhartt with a hood and it works great in the cooler months but when it rains it gets soaked. this duster appears to be able to combat all of the weather conditions here so far, it is built very rugged and here the rain and some snow but not much at home, it can be freezing in the mornings and reach 70 with a heat index of 80 or 90 by noon in the winter. I have ordered the hood with this and SOon to order the liner before winter gets here. it is built very rugged and I have high expectations of this jacket. the buttons are perfect and also I am a 3x but the XL fits perfect. it arrived in great time and I love it the cuff buttons are perfect and everything is Built tough and long enough to shed the rain and weather.

Great heavy duster

Just received it today and it is an excellent coat. I've worn through several dusters in my life, the first was heavy cracked wax and continues to be my favorite, but the maker went out of business and none has been able to quite live up to that since. (It wore out after 10 years, eventually the stiff cracked wax caused too many of the fibers in the fabric to break.) This one comes the closest. The fabric is pliable but heavy, and doesn't have too much excessive oil on it. The length is good, and the sizing is, as expected, about one size larger than it would appear. I wear a size large shirt and the size medium coat fits well, with more than ample room for multiple layers underneath. I only have two complaints for this coat. The first is that, as with *all* of the dusters I've ever had, including my first and favorite, the snaps aren't strong enough. It is far too easy to brush against something and have the snap pop off, be it the capelet armbands or the snaps on the front of the coat. The front snaps are quick enough to re-fasten, but if you want to fix the capelet armband you have to take the whole coat off to fish around and reattach it properly. The second is that I'd like to see one more snap on the wrist cuff. There's one snap that's right at the point the cuff adjuster hits when it lays flat, which is the easiest place to snap to but doesn't constrict the sleeve at all. There's a second snap that's fairly far over, so far that while it fits my wrist great when I'm wearing it, the snap pops when I go to pass my hand through it. I'd like to see a snap halfway between these two.

Awesome duster. Amazing customer service!

Posted by Al Rodriguez on Jan 17th 2013

I bought this and when i tried it on it was too small. I noticed that the outer packaging said x-small but the actual duster said xx-small. I usually hate dealing with customer service but I called these guys and was blown away. They were so...human! It was great. The person that helped me really knew his stuff and was so friendly. I can't say enough about the customer service. They quickly sent me the correct size along with a ups label to return the other one. I'm 5'8" and weigh 160 lbs, my chest measures 37" and the X-Small fits perfect. I was expecting it to look a little more rustic, which would have been fine with me, but it actually looks slightly elegant. it's tough and warm. I thought it was going to stink up the house after reading other reviews but I could only smell the oilskin treatment if i brought it to my face. Use the sizing chart they provide and if you have any questions I wouldn't hesitate to call them.

Good quality - Big sizes not too big though

I wear a 5X shirt and coat - however the 6x in this coat JUST fits - if shirts are tight on you the 6x coat being double breasted will be a VERY TIGHT squeeze - kept it tho cuz I'm still sliming down and thought the quality was excellent - worn it through a real major snow storm here - loved having the waterproof coat that still breathes - I stayed nice and dry. Overall - 6X fits more like a 4X t-shirt(a little tight on a guy who normally wears 5X clothes) - if thats OK with you you should buy this because the quality is excellent

Ideal coat for what I wanted. Versatile and warm They do mean it when they say it does contain oils. Don't put the out side in direct contact with other clothes til it has a chance to wear off or you hose it off. Some snaps needed tightening.

Keep Warm while Trail Riding

Posted by Red Ryder on Dec 5th 2008

This coat is a blessing for those who like to horseback ride in cold weather. The split seam in the back allows fabric to cover your legs down to the ankles when astride. The waxed cotton fabric shields you from wind and keeps you dry when it rains.
