Women's Tasman Coat - Premium Oilskin Western Duster - Full Length

OWO 100

Our Best Duster!

This legendary oilskin drover coat may be the toughest 100% waterproof coat ever built. Similar in style to a Western duster coat, the 16 oz. oilskin fabric is finely woven, then double-oiled and waxed for additional rain, wind and snow protection. This coat features a removable shoulder cape, reinforced elbows, large cargo pockets, and hand warmer pockets. It also has a saddle gusset and leg straps. You'll find lots of fine detail like dual inside zippered pockets, a draw cord waist band, and the ability to accept a warm snap-in fleece liner (OWF 310), a dressy taffeta liner (OWT 150), or a snap-on hood (HOOD 100). Joseph Lyddy Dry-Proof (DRESS J120) can be used to restore water proof character that may have been reduced through age or heavy usage.

In love with this coat!

Posted by Franzi on Jun 21st 2019

I am completely in love with this coat. I ride a motorcycle in New York City, and I drive in all weather. I was in desperate need for something waterproof during this very rainy Spring. This coat totally fits the bill. It's 100% waterproof, and with the ability to snap the flaps over the legs in place even when moving my legs, the coat moves with it. There is enough room to wear more layers under it in the Fall and Winter. I will say it's a VERY heavy coat, but in a way that makes it feel like wearing a security blanket :))
I am very glad to have bought it.

Found the right one!

My daughter wanted one of these for her cosplay and to wear on cold days at college. We couldn’t find a small one around town and found it here with you all. XXSmall worked for her - 5’5” and 110 pounds. She LOVES it!

AWESOME quality!

Unless your arms hang down to your knees you will need to order at least 1 size smaller and possibly 2 sizes smaller than you normally order. In my opinion the chest runs 1 size large but the sleeves run 2 sizes larger. Trying to exchange mine now because the quality is truly outstanding.

Heavy duty coat

I bought the Tasman Coat in XX-Small, being about 5'2 on my tall days and about 115 pounds. I'm used to wearing heavy coats, but this one feels substantial even compared to some of my other heavy winter coats. While I've just gotten mine and haven't put it through the proper wear, it feels more durable than my old oilskin which lasted several years until we parted ways (when someone lifted it from my car). The sizing on these coats does run large, the XX-Small was perfect for me once you cinched in the waist draw string and it still leaves a comfortable amount of room for me to wear a sweater underneath should I find myself in really cold conditions. Thanks to the adjustable arms and waist line, I can make it fit without a sweater, or with something pretty bulky underneath. If you visit the seller's website, you'll find a sizing chart that will help you figure out which size you want to buy.
I was super impressed with Down Under Saddle Supply's customer service. I ordered the coat to wear for the first time to a special event with expedited shipping, and when it arrived the measurements of the coat were off a little bit. I contacted them to make sure I was measuring it correctly, and the gentleman who helped me quickly measured all of their in stock coats and compared my measurements to his to discover that my coat was slightly off. When I told him I had needed the coat for an event, he said he would take care of it and they absolutely did, it literally took less than 24 hours for the correct coat to show up on my doorstep.
If you are looking for a great looking, durable coat that is sold by people who will back up their product, stop here. You won't regret it.

Keep Warm while Trail Riding

This coat is a blessing for those who like to horseback ride in cold weather. The split seam in the back allows fabric to cover your legs down to the ankles when astride. The waxed cotton fabric shields you from wind and keeps you dry when it rains.
